Romance in the 21st century
A double-take now involves less neck-craning, as you are only looking up from your phone, looking back down, and then looking up again to get a better look. You are more interesting than the person I’m texting! What a rarity.
Also, checking someone out long enough that they notice you checking them out… because it’s a city of 3 million people and you’re never gonna see them/remember seeing them again, so you may as well make them feel good in the process. Bonus points if the check-out happened while you were on your phone.
